New Blog About Alumni Relations Launches

Feb 12, 2007By Michael Stoner

Who better than Andy to write a blog like this one. In the 1990s when he worked at Brown, Andy was the one of the first alumni affairs people to create opportunities for alumni to interact with faculty-through listservs. Seems primitive now when we’re talking about setting up virtual worlds in Second Life, but it was a real, live demonstration that actually worked and proved that the Internet had tremendous power to link people with each other. Andy’s executive director at the Caltech Alumni Association now, where he eschewed licensing or building an alumni community and instead has explored the power of LinkedIn and other commercial tools to link alumni with each other. He wrote about this in CASE Currents this year, in an article entitled “Opponent or Opportunity-though you’ll have to log in to read the article.
