CASE Announces 2006 Circle of Excellence Awards

Jan 06, 2006By Michael Stoner

The Circle of Excellence Awards Program is CASE’s international awards program for those people employed at CASE member institutions worldwide—it is run by CASE in Washington, and the competition is fierce. To give you an idea: websites are judged by a group of 15 professionals, including people experienced in technology, design, content, information architecture, and marketing.

CASE’s site is quite complete and contains complete instructions for applying and some helpful documentation, such as examples of abstracts for award winners.

Those who are interested in submitting web projects are concerned, the relevant categories are here. I’ve led the judging for the “new media” [is it still new media?] since these categories originated in 1997. To learn about the judging process we use, I suggest you read the Judges’ Reports from 2005. It’s also a good idea to review the excellent abstract from Carleton University. If we gave awards on abstracts, Carleton would get a Grand Gold for this one!

Whatever. I'm not much interested in cutting edge but what actually works for real people in the real world. Does that make me a bad person?
