Smart and Sustainable

"My level of trust in the mStoner team could not be any higher. They are smart, reliable and highly organized. Collaborating with them is a pleasure and the results are effective, innovative and emotionally powerful. Quite simply, I think they’re the best  — and I’ve been doing this work for fifteen years."

Challenge: George School, a Quaker boarding school in Newtown, Pennsylvania, has always been different. Its Quaker foundation, coupled with a unique approach to learning and student-faculty relationships, creates an environment unlike any other. At the same time, not every student has the time or resources to travel to Newtown and discover in person what George is all about. We had to find a way for the website to bring the school’s unique qualities to life.

Solution: mStoner captured the quirky nature of George School in a number of ways. We used hand-drawn fonts and a “collage” feel to add a personal touch to the site, giving students a sense of the more intimate nature of the school. We also coordinated photography throughout the site to showcase the friendliness of the students and faculty. An interactive home page feature, combined with video that has been popular with prospective and current students alike, allows site visitors to easily access information about one of the elements most important to George, such as academics, athletics, arts, or the Quaker tradition. The new site, launched in 2008, could exist nowhere but George School—which is exactly as it should be.

Results: George School is measuring the results of this site both in traffic to the site and in admissions activity. From a traffic standpoint, there’s been a 72% increase in traffic overall, with a 42% increase in unique visitors to the site. While we recognize that there are many factors affecting changes in admissions, the school has seen an increase of 30% in overall applications, and an increase of 53% in applications for boarding students.
