Princeton University—Undergraduate Admission
Challenge: Princeton University teamed up with mStoner to create a website for undergraduate admission and financial aid that could represent its world-class opportunities to prospective students. The original site didn’t fully reflect the breadth of the academic experiences offered to its students, Princeton’s extraordinary financial aid program, the vibrance of the campus, or the diversity of the university community. The site was also difficult to update, with a great deal of support required from the campus technical team. The revised admission/ financial aid site would need to appeal to a wide range of students, and, more specifically, would need to replace a campus visit for those unable to see Princeton in person.
Solution: The Princeton Undergraduate Admission/Financial Aid project was truly a collaborative effort, involving multiple writers and specialists from our team, as well as a large team from Princeton’s offices of undergraduate admission, financial aid, information technology, and communications. The resulting site truly hit the mark. The team created a multitude of student, alumni and faculty profiles—more than 50 at initial launch—to illustrate campus opportunities and academic rigor. Princeton’s terrific campus photographer provided visual assets that allowed mStoner’s designers to showcase the Princeton experience.
Results: The resulting site is exciting and lively, reflecting the complete student experience. The team spent a great deal of time finding and highlighting interesting content from across Princeton.edu—with such strong content available, it was important to make sure that it was easily accessible to the prospective student. The site also showcases the university’s world-class financial aid program that covers all demonstrated student need with grants rather than loans. Princeton’s new undergraduate admission site is bold and personal, giving students the answers to the all important questions—not only how to apply, but why.
