Challenge: George School is a small, Quaker boarding and day school in Newtown, Pennsylvania. George is a truly unique institution with a long tradition and an off-beat way of viewing the world. George stands for individual learning and strengths as well as dedication to the community, to achieving personal growth as well as working with a team. The website project needed to project this individual sense of place for visitors to the site.
Solution: Life at George School is made up of many different elements, and in order to convey this, we needed to find a creative way to organize a lot of information on a single page, the homepage of the new site. Our solution? A dynamic homepage with interchangeable elements that rotate in and out depending on visitor choice. Hand drawn fonts and creative use of video also convey the unique nature of the institution.
Results: The new George School site, launched in the summer of 2008, lets visitors experience the school without setting foot on campus, and lets alumni revisit the School without making a return trip. With creative icons and images backed by short videos, the homepage lets visitors learn more about George’s focus on learning, athletics, the arts, and its Quaker heritage. Even more importantly, the site illustrates what George can do for an individual, allowing students to find their own way and write their own stories. We’re proud of our work on this site, and would encourage you to explore it for yourself!
