Podcasts: Maybe Not So Many Users After All

Dec 05, 2006By Michael Stoner

Despite the seeming near-ubiquity of the iPod, which contibuted the “pod” in “podcast,” is only 12% of Internet users over all say they have downloaded a podcast. And few are downloading them with great frequency. These are some of the results of a survey by the Pew Internet & American Life Project done in August and released in November.

Here are some results of the survey. Of those who had downloaded a podcast:

18–29: 14%
30–49: 12%
high school graduates: 9%
college graduate or more: 13%
3 years of less of online experience: 6%
broadband connection at home: 14%

Whatever. I'm not much interested in cutting edge but what actually works for real people in the real world. Does that make me a bad person?
