Two Kinds of Pages that Colleges and Universities Must Get Right

Earning an undergraduate or graduate degree is an expensive, time-consuming undertaking that has a lasting impact on a person’s entire life. A degree is one of the most important (and costly) products a person will ever purchase. Why do so many colleges and universities have degree pages that fall short in providing useful data and compelling stories on program pages?

Product pages in higher education need work, and I’m going to provide flexible pointers on how to plan, create, and maintain better degree, major, and minor pages in a paid webinar next week. Whether you’re thinking about a web relaunch and want your new program pages to perform better, need to rebuild all of your program pages on your current site, or you just want to improve existing program pages until they are perfect, you stand to gain from this webinar.

 

#2 School and Department Pages

Back when I was shopping for a degree, I was looking at art and design schools and departments. My concerns were different than a student interested in music or chemistry or journalism. This is true for most students – especially the high ability prospective students being chased by admissions counselors. The truth is students aren’t just shopping the institution-at-large – savvy prospective students will be looking at individual schools and departments as well.

School and department pages are an opportunity to address niche concerns about who will be teaching classes, what the facilities are like, and what opportunities there are for learning beyond the classroom. In the second webinar next week, I’ll be looking at ways to improve these pages. This is also a catch-all session with flexible techniques that can help you whether your school and department pages need to be redone or you’re just looking to polish what you already have.
