Ah, 2003. It seems so long ago.
There was no Facebook, Twitter, Bing. Or, for that matter, no iPhone or iPad (though that’s the year Apple launched iTunes and sold 10 million songs in the next four months). Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was published (in hard copy, since the Kindle didn’t exist yet). And Peter Jackson released The Return of the King.
And we launched this blog. As of today, we’ve been blogging for 9 (NINE!) years.
In the first post, I blogged about the role the Internet was playing in the 2004 election:
Thus far, the 2004 presidential election is shaping up to be the first race that will take advantage of the Internet. Although candidates have mounted websites and conducted forays into online fundraising before, this is the first presidential race in which the Internet could really count.
One thing I’ve learned about blogging: it’s hard to maintain a commitment to writing and posting high-quality content. There are years when we didn’t post much. Now, our blog is rocking’: it’s hard to keep up with all the great posts. And I have a lot of confidence that the rest of 2012 will be pretty awesome on this blog: stay tuned.
In closing, I’d like to thank my mStoner colleagues for continuing to write such thoughtful posts: I’m awed by some of what you share. And to our friends and colleagues in education, thank you for inspiring us with your own ideas!
