What a Shock: Adults and Teens Use IM Differently

Dec 08, 2006By Michael Stoner

According to the poll, 48% of teens 13–18 use IM—more than twice the number of adults who IM. Almost 75% of adults who do use IM send more emails that instant messages, in contrast to teens who send more IMs than emails. More than half the teens who use IM send more than 25 a day and one in five send more than 100. Both teens and adults prefer the telephone when sharing serious or confidentail news, but 16% of teens admit to breaking up with someone over IM. More here.
